Friday - Sunday:   Pilots’ Sessions  9:30 to 12:00

SHOP TALK & FLYING FORUM:  
Lake experts, Elton Townsend, Harry Shannon and Jim Hodgson will take you through several topics of interest and answer your questions.  These include flying tips and pilot techniques as well as maintenance tips and general mechanical airworthiness discussions. 

  • The management of “flying incidents” : A discussion led by Harry Shannon. 
  • The Polar 5 (DC3) for the Alfred Wagner Institute: A presentation by Jim Hodgson on an arctic/sub arctic survey plane.
  • ‘What I learned from…(e.g. a corrosion problem..) ”: A round table discussion.  Bring your ideas to share with the group.
  • “Bring & Brag”.  Here’s your opportunity to show us your latest and greatest aviation gadgets and acquisitions. 
     

Companion Sessions:  9:30 to 12:00

  • Weaving:  Beth Bennett will introduce us to the craft of weaving and let us try our hand at it.   
  • Flower arranging:  MaryTownsend will lead us through the art of flower arranging. Bring your creativity!
  • Knitting:  Learn how to knit, or hone your skills.  Donna Calder Louth will conduct a session on knitting socks or, for beginners, a scarf.  
  • A co-pilot emergency procedure checklist will be distributed and discussed as interest determines.
  • Please bring your own craft ideas to share.
  • As in the past, manicures and pedicures will be available.
  • Book exchange: Along with the usual discussion of our favorite books, we’ll be doing a book exchange again, so bring along any books that you’d like to pass on to others.
     

Afternoons: 

  • Plane walk arounds.
  • Fly-out to an endless sand beach in Clapperton Harbour on Clapperton Island in the North Channel.  
  • Nature walk with guide.

Evening events:

  • Thursday Night:  Newfoundland by the ‘Group of Four Lakes’ by Michel LaPoint.    
  • Friday Wine Tasting: Francois Perrin, Territory Manager of Vincor Canada will introduce us to the intricacies of wine tasting.
  • Saturday night auctionOur live auction is back this year.  Please bring along new item used item in good repair.  Proceeds go to various airplane and seaplane associations.
