September 10th to 13th, 2009 

Here are some important new considerations for those of you planning to fly in from the United States
eAPIS and the 406 ELT - latest updates (July 3, 2009)


Friday - Sunday:   Pilots’ Sessions  9:30 to 12:00

  • Friday: Dennis Schuller from Aviall, a leading provider of services for the aerospace, defense and marine industries, and Ray Crist a Lycoming regional manager and support specialist, will bring us up to speed on the latest on aircraft engines.  Bring your questions.
  • Friday: COPA President Kevin Psutka will discuss the latest on the 406 ELT as well as other COPA initiatives.
  • Ed McNeil will provide a short update on the SPA Foundation.
  • Jim Hodgson will provide an update on Polar 5.
  • Saturday and Sunday:  SHOP TALK & FLYING FORUM:  
    Lake experts, Elton Townsend, Harry Shannon and Jim Hodgson will take you through several topics of interest and answer your questions.  These include flying tips and pilot techniques as well as maintenance tips and general mechanical airworthiness discussions.
 

Companion Sessions:  9:30 to 12:00

  • Friday: In the morning Ellen Gorecki will introduce us to the art of water color. The afternoon will provide us with the opportunity to practice what we have learned.

  • Saturday: Beth Kreuter and Betsy Maine will lead us in a craft

  • Saturday: Besty Maine will lead the discussion of our favorite books. We’ll again be doing a book exchange, so bring along any books that you’d like to pass on to others.

Afternoons: 

  • Saturday afternoon there will be a guided nature walk. 
  • Also, on Friday and/or Saturday, there will be a fly-out to a local destination. 
  • As always, there’s hiking, canoeing, or just relaxing.
     

Evening events:

  • Beth Bennett and Chris Harmon will share their experiences flying in the Governor Generals Air Rally http://www.airrally.com/2/rally.htm
  • Friday: By popular demand, Dr. Randy Knipping (Aviation medical examiner for Transport Canada, US FAA and a number of foreign jurisdictions, ER physician, special interest in Preventive Medicine) will be back on Friday evening. He'll discuss the latest research and practice on stress reduction, including (possibly) an evening and morning meditation session.
  • Saturday night auction:  Please bring along new item or used item in good repair.  Proceeds go to various airplane and seaplane associations.  This year we are again requesting ‘no alcohol’ as auction items.
