Covid19 and the
Fly-In
This year’s event is
shaping up to be like no other in the past. In reality,
everyone’s life these past months has been like no other time!
Our event will still go on, as we feel that we can still gather
safely while following as many safety precautions as possible.
Hand washing and sanitizing frequently, keeping a social
distance, wearing a mask whenever possible, keeping our events
outside. Many of our regular group have cancelled and are
looking forward to joining us again next year. Because our group
will be very small this year we will be keeping our event very
casual. This is what things will look like this September.
Everyone will be on
their own for booking their meal plans and making their meal
reservations with the front desk. There will be no large tables
for meals. Meals can be eaten in the dining room or on the
patio. Room service will also be available.
Pilot sessions will
not be held indoors in meeting rooms this year. We will
have pilot discussions outside by the airplanes (weather
dependent) daily. Everyone who would like to participate will be
on their own for bringing their coffee, tea, etc. (the lodge has
takeout and also the coffee bar by the water is open in the
morning).
Activities such as yoga, hiking, biking, etc. will be available and times can be discussed with those who wish to participate. Noreen Lewkoski will be offering a workshop (outdoors), Painting with Wool. A craft project aiming to make a small Killarney landscape using wool instead of paint. No special skill required. Come and have fun stabbing foam! Times will be discussed with those who wish to participate. We can still have a ‘Happy Hour’ but it will be outside and everyone will be responsible for bringing their own drinks from the bar or their rooms. Individually packaged snacks will be available such as chips, nuts, etc. It will be great to see all of those who are able to attend and I’m sure there will be great discussions, lots of fun, and many laughs. It certainly will be a Fly-In year we won’t ever forget! |
